Construction
The quality of the Medium Size Dog cajon
begins with the wood. The Baltic birch
cajons are all birch- like many fine drumsets. Birch drums are built up with
multiple plies of birch. With Baltic birch
every ply is birch with no cheap filler woods.
This provides strength and an excellent
consistent musical tone. Oak and other woods are used on some of the slapping
sides for a different look and sound. Solid
joinery results in an extremely stout box.
This drum is a solid piece of musical
furniture that will last for years. The drums are finished inside and out with many coats of a tough environmentally friendly varnish that provides stability, moisture resistance and boosts resonance inside the box.

The Sounds
Some of the many sounds you can get from
these cajons are the result of a chamber in
the upper corner of the slapping sides of the
cajon. Playing the chamber gives you a bright popping bongo sound. Playing any-
where and everywhere else with whatever
hand or finger technique you choose gives you many distinct tones. I recommend touching the drum as much or more than hit-
ting it. Gentle playing allows you to find the
"tone zones", sweet spots and individual
voices your drum has. It also helps you
express the most power with the least
effort when it's time to get loud. This is the
Short Box cajon. the two slapping sides are oak. Size is 15" tall- 14.5" wide- 13.75"deep.

More Sounds
The Medium Size Dog cajons have fat
powerful bass notes that must be heard to be believed. There is a musical tone and sustain that other cajons just don't have.
Every Medium Size Dog cajon is a bass
cajon. Until videos are embedded here
please go to the youtube channel "mediumsizedog". Plug in decent speakers or headphones and let me know what you think. The patent pending snare on these cajons is a ridiculously simple and effective device.
Looking into many cajons at all the wacky
gadgets and complicated mechanisms and
parts that can go wrong made me ask
"Why?" Every snare is custom tailored to
its cajon for maximum buzzage. When the
snare is engaged the amount of buzz you hear is adjusted by you depending on where and how you hit or touch the playing surface. Again, you should be hearing and seeing this so
you don't have to read about it. This is the Medium Size Dog Tall Box cajon. Dimensions are 20" tall x15"x15". It has a bongo chamber in each upper corner and gives you two
distinct popping notes. This gives you lots of tones including the fat bass. It's too big for me to play comfortably for long but I think tall people would like it just fine.
