Frame Drums
The Medium Size Dog Frame Drum is a wooden version of frame drums which are found all over the world. Bendir, riqq, tar, bodhran, pandeiro, kanjira, tamborim or any style of upright, hand held or laptop grip is easy. Finger and hand techniques are only limited by your imagination. The drums have cross sticks that provide many grip and playing options.
My hand would get sore pretty quickly using the traditional pandeiro grip. I saw the cross sticks on bodhrans and put similar ones on my pandeiro. It not only immediately gives me an easy happy grip, it sets one or more fingers free to tap, mute or bend the head from the back.
The drums are surprisingly resonant with multiple tones depending on where you hit or touch the drum. As with all drums, I recommend touching before hitting. I find it the best way to discover tones, sweet spots and all the nuanced shadings of sound you can get out of an instrument. Each drum comes with a soft-tipped hickory stick that brings out the resonant tone and is a great all purpose knocker. Every drum is a uniquely beautiful little
